Janelee M. Chaparro Colón, who was first runner-up in Miss World Puerto Rico 2011, has been handpicked by the Miss World Puerto Rico organizers as the island's representative to Miss World 2012 to be held in Ordos, Inner Mongolia, China on August 8th. The 20-year-old student of criminal justice was crowned yesterday by her predecessor, Amanda Vilanova who placed third in Miss World 2011 last November in London.
Appointed as Miss World Puerto Rico 2012 is Janelee Chaparro. She is 21 years old and stands 1.68 m. She's crowned at a ceremony on April 26, 2012 at the Eternal Lounge of the Conrad San Juan Condado Plaza Hotel in San Juan. She was first runner-up to Amanda Vilanova and has been chosen due to the move in the date of the Miss World Competition. Janelee Chaparro, a criminal justice student, will represent Puerto Rico at the 62nd edition of the Miss World pageant to be held on August 18, 2012 in Dongsheng Fitness Center Stadium, Ordos, Inner Mongolia, China.

Since local organizers lacked time to produce a national pageant due to Miss World 2012 being moved to August, they handpicked Chaparro as Puerto Rico’s 2012 representative.
