Still, it was still a bond they shared, and Young, told host Seacrest that he and DeGarmo had just moved in together then got down on one knee and popped the question to her. 'Will you,' Young, 31 , said to DeGarmo, and paused dramatically, 'marry me?'
DeGarmo said yes, screamed and shouted: 'Wow, babe, you picked a good one!'

The moment of truth: It was an exciting proposal, though you couldn't help feeling that Diana knew it was coming 
HE picked a good one: Ace got in a plug for his jeweller, of course DeGarmo, a runner-up in season three, tearfully accepted, her head wobbling.
Young auditioned for American Idol in Denver for the fifth season, he charmed the judges wearing beanie and by singing a rendition of Westlife's Swear It Again and was unanimously passed on to the next round.
Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson backed him heartily, with Jackson saying that Young was one of the best singers he had seen audition, so it must've been good for him to see the youngster back tonight.

He was eliminated in the show's sixth round.
DeGarmo, 24 , meanwhile, was a runner-up in the sixth season, she finished second to Fantasia - who was also part of the show tonight - and met Ace while performing in Hair on Broadway with him.
