With no big blue TARDIS in sight, Matt Smith had to travel the old fashioned way.
The Doctor Who actor was leading the way as he carried the Olympic torch in Cardiff, Wales, early this morning.
Thousands of people turned out at the crack of dawn to cheer on the 29-year-old and all the other torchbearers as the relay began at the Norwegian Church in Cardiff Bay.
After his 6.30am start, Matt was overwhelmed at having had the chance to carry the special flame and he described it as a 'strange' and 'unexpected' honour.
He joked: 'I would do it in my underpants. It's the Olympic torch. I would probably get a bigger crowd for that'.
He told BBC Wales: 'It's a great privilege. I can't believe the number of people who turned up. I thought I would just be waving to the ducks.

'It's strange really, it's the Olympic torch - it's one of those strange occasions in your life that you don't expect to happen.'
Crowds of people congregated at the historic Norwegian church to watch the torch be lit and handed to Smith.
The star was wearing the specially designed white Olympic tracksuit that all the torchbearers have been issued with.

Matt is looking forward to the games and said: 'I think it is so dramatic and it's wonderful for London and it's wonderful for Great Britain.'
The star power of the actor prompted some people to turn up dressed up as Doctor Who characters, and it was a case of life imitating art.
In an earlier incarnation, the Doctor, then played by David Tennant, went forward in time to 2012 and carried the Olympic torch in London.
Matt is the latest celebrity to take part in the torch relay after Black Eyed Peas star will.i.am ran through Taunton carrying the flame.
