Madness will reign at the Palace: Suggs and his band to serenade the Queen from her rooftop

The Daily Mail can exclusively reveal that Madness will serenade the royals on top of Buckingham Palace at the Jubilee concert on Monday

It was one of the most memorable moments of the Golden Jubilee celebrations . . . Brian May playing God Save The Queen on the roof of Buckingham Palace.
Now the Mail can exclusively reveal that the organisers of Monday’s Diamond Jubilee Concert are to go one better – putting a whole band on top of the Queen’s official London residence. Cult 80s group Madness will be playing a cheeky rendition of their top ten hit Our House to senior members of the Royal Family, 12,000 members of the public and a worldwide audience of more than a billion.
It is understood that the band – led by charismatic frontman Suggs and famed for hits including Baggy Trousers and House Of Fun – may even tinker with the lyrics of the song to honour their royal host.

The group will conclude with their hit ballad It Must Be Love prompting, it is hoped, an emotional mass singalong in The Mall. It should be a fitting finale to an evening that will see four knights and a dame take to a circular stage which has been specially constructed around the gold-encrusted Queen Victoria Memorial at the front of the palace.
Sir Elton John is set to get his audience rocking with renditions of I’m Still Standing and Crocodile Rock. He’ll also be performing another favourite, Your Song.
Sir Cliff Richard will sing a medley of his greatest hits, while Sir Tom Jones is certain to get people on their feet with a rousing rendition of his classic Delilah as well his more recent hit Mama Told Me Not To Come.

With a wealth of songs to pick from, Sir Paul McCartney has chosen to play a stirring version of his Bond theme, Live And Let Die.
As for Dame Shirley Bassey? Well, there can only be one option, of course: Diamonds Are Forever. The concert takes place on the ‘middle Monday’ of the extended bank holiday weekend to mark the Queen’s 60 years on the throne.
Organised by Take That singer Gary Barlow, who has travelled the globe seeking stars to take part, it starts at 7.30pm and will be broadcast live on BBC1 and Radio 2.
Every senior member of the Royal Family is expected to be present including Bassey fan Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry.
However, the Queen will not be present for the whole of the two-and-a-half hour concert, popping in for the first few minutes and arriving shortly before the finale, after which she will light the National Jubilee Beacon.
